Painting nature in its many forms

Tamara Shone was born in 1997 in Kauri, New Zealand. In 2019 she received a Bachelor of Arts and Media at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology. Shone has been included in several group exhibitions including the Leaf Exhibition at the Momentum Gallery, Equilibrium, Nelson and the B.A.M exhibition at NMIT, Nelson, where she was awarded the Impressions award of Distinction.

As a professional fine artist based in Nelson, Shone translates her love of nature into highly detailed paintings.  From landscapes to still life, her work portrays the subjects as the elegant forms they are. The paintings encourage reflection and connection with nature. Not only are the works a celebration of the subjects themselves but also the journey to get to them. Much of her work is firmly place in the context of the present day where she showcases threatened species. Through meticulous detail she often paints the small details in nature to draw our attention to them.
